ECIS - European Council of International Schools

CIS - Council of International Schools

IBO - International Baccalaureate Organization

Our Philosophy

At Wrocław International School we believe in academic excellence through education of the whole child. We reflect this belief through creating individualized programs to meet each student's needs, helping our students develop to their highest potential. We understand that children learn and grow best within a caring, supportive and meaningful environment. We undertake to provide the most enriching and stimulating educational program possible, while keeping in mind the needs of expatriate youth in our school community.

We are sensitive and supportive of the transitions inherent in the international community. We provide opportunities to learn about cultures different from our own and encourage interest in and empathy for humanity. While promoting acceptance and respect for others, we encourage students to question and challenge behaviors or actions of individuals and societies. Our desire is to build constructive world citizens who will have an impact on their community here in Wrocław and the world around them. We aim to provide students with the technological skills necessary to pursue knowledge in informed and responsible ways, and to express that knowledge creatively.

Respect towards learning, others, and oneself is fundamental. We believe learning depends on challenge, rigor, risk-taking and critical thinking by valued, active participants. Parents, teachers and students are partners in education, and open communication and support within the learning community is essential.

Learning is progressive and continues for a lifetime.

Standards

Wroclaw International School is a member of European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and Council of International Schools (CIS).

Wroclaw International School has been a member of the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) since 2002. ECIS is the largest association of international schools in the world.

ECIS is dedicated to the advancement of internationalism through education by the provision of services to its members. It serves the interests of over 336,000 young people, the largest component of whom are US or UK citizens, but also includes students of many other nationalities, with widely varied cultural, religious and linguistic backgrounds. ECIS features over 570 international schools, both primary and secondary, around the globe.

While ECIS schools are diverse in nature, they are united by a common set of core beliefs and values. They are committed to the ethical treatment of all members of their community. They are dedicated to offering an education which recognizes the varied needs of the students they enroll and to meeting those needs to the best of their abilities. They admit only students who will benefit from the educational programmes they offer. They represent themselves openly, accurately and honestly.

Most significantly, ECIS schools are committed to the promotion of an international outlook amongst all members of their community characterized by a knowledge of, and respect for, the beliefs and values of other cultures and by the willingness to acknowledge the existence and necessity of a range of perspectives.

Other members endorse the mission, philosophy and objectives by providing services and support to member schools.
